Overview
Marc Fitch Fund exists to improve and diffuse knowledge, and to promote the study of, and education and research in, archaeology, historical geography, the history of art and architecture, heraldry, genealogy, and the use of archives and other antiquarian or archaeological studies. It only funds research on British and Irish topics, and does not contribute to works principally concerned with the period after 1979. It funds the humanities and social sciences, not scientific or technical research, and it funds the publication of the results of fieldwork rather than the fieldwork itself. The Council of Management meets in spring and autumn to consider applications, with deadlines for completed applications and references of 1 March and 1 August.
