Sir James Knott Trust grants

Overview

Sir James Knott Trust funds charitable activity in Tyne and Wear, Northumberland, County Durham and Hartlepool. It funds registered charities, community groups and social enterprises, and cannot consider applications from individuals. It says it often funds £5,000 per year over three years, occasionally funds £15,000 per year over three years, and rarely funds more than that. It also runs small grants of £2,000 or under, processed outside scheduled meetings with an average turnaround of six weeks. Organisations with a turnover of over £3m will only be funded in exceptional circumstances. It operates a rolling grants programme with no deadlines, but trustees meet four times a year, so allow up to 18 weeks for a response.
